What does Organic
really mean?
- Organic is a whole system, or holistic means of growing and handling food. It does not just mean ‘chemical free’. The whole system is linked – soil, plants, animals, food, people, environment.
- Organic products are grown and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilisers or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Organic is an innovative method of farming and production – and is increasingly being recognised as being on the leading edge of food technology.
- Being Organic means both a better environment for the animals and that they are raised ethically according to the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) Standard.
Environment &
Deforestation Protection.
- Certified Organic rules means that no farm certified as organic can be cleared for farming, nor can a farm be certified as organic if it has ever been cleared in the past. Sustainable agriculture certified organic rules and regulations mean no chemicals or saline are released into the environment (which is considered normal in current collagen production).
- ACO Standard prohibits the clearing of land (deforestation) on certified organic farms, either during their certification or before they are certified. This means that OCA organic collagen is never linked, either directly or indirectly, to deforestation.
